What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
Podcasting, and the blogging. I am planning to start a blogging with a teacher and her students from Puerto Rico.
How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
Evey year I go to at least to technology conferences, and all the knowledge that I receive stays in a folder or in my dreams becuase I don´t have more people to share and work in a project, but I think now I will have somebody interested.
Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
That I still need to learn another 1,00,00 things.
What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?
More communication among the participant, I think I only have 2 comments in my 23 things.
If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you choose to participate?
Yes SURE
How would you describe your learning experience in ONE WORD or in ONE SENTENCE, so we could use your words to promote 23 Things learning activities?
Exiting new learning and new ways to teach your content.

Thing # 22

Wow!!!
I hope I have a group of colegues to share.
But I am a rare case. I can do a lot of things in technology, but I don´t have the position, the resources and probably until I move I will not have it.
Amazing the Texas librarians are as updated as the rest of the USA.
Not Teachers, at least I din not find a Texas Teachers.

Thing # 21

I came to Mexico for my aunt´s funeral. In the middle of all that this implies I found a lot of family members that I didn´t know that exist.

I decided to made my Photo Story with a little bite of my life to introduce my self to all these members of my family that I just met.

Is in Spanish becuase I do not know how many of them would understand English, but all the comments in the pictures are in English.

I hope you find interesting if you take the time to watch it. I found out that my aunt donated time and resources to build 54 churches and 16 chapels. She was somebody! I wish a would have some pictures to make one about her.

Thing # 18

We could save a lot of money if we stop buying Office and use any of those tools. Some districts are usin Linux instead of Windos to save money.

Thing # 17

Have a wiki by subject grade where all tea hers can participate and add resources would be perfect.

Thing # 16

Creating a wiki with all the definitions and new terms teachers in SB will need to learn with our new lap tops would a good idea.

Thing # 15

I think Librarians will keep their jobs, but will be different. They will need to be technology savvy, and be able to find information in a flat world where information won't be only in books.
After reading an article from Dough Johnson about the indispensable librarian I don't agree with him 100%, but they are certain things that I think are important for the new generation of librarians.
I am sure information has gone digital. The librarians need to add value to the information process.
The librarians need to listen to teachers and principals and work on some of the thing they can't do. Like interdisciplinary units.
I think the name should change to media specialists. They can be webmasters, network administrators, train teachers to use technology, and help teachers to develop confidence using the new tools.
Here are two website with this tendencies.

http://tametheweb.com/category/lis-education-in-the-21st-century/

In this next website you will find a power point presentation with a lot of the same tools that we are learning in this adventure. I know the most of the librarians are not ready yet, but is a greater percentage of librarians ready than teachers. Then it will be easier for you to be there than teachers.

I am not pretending to offend anybody, but I am sure you have a better future as librarian than as a technology teacher like myself. You have the support and the tools to get there.

Thing # 10

Make your own clipart like this @ www.TXT2PIC.comI designed this card using the comic strip generator.
The most difficult part was decided which one and the text, I am not very creative.
We could use a card with a cartoon for each teacher in the schools and students could try to match the character with the teacher. I would be Duck Donald.

I played safe.
Because I had a bloglines account that I had used before, I just use that option.
I had used Technorati also, and is not a problem, especially after I looked the video in English. It started in Dusch and I was trying to understand, but I couldn't.
It was really sad for me trying to find a blog from about education in Mexico and I couldn't find any.
I start reading a very interesting blog from Stephen Downes about Principles for Evaluating Websites.
After a finish reading it, I will comment more and linked if is worthy.

RSS is faboulus Allows you to keep track of all new blogs a person write or changes in a website.
I already had my RSS account with bloglines.
I keep track of Alan November's blog an Miguel Guhlin.
Is the best way to know the new trends for technology educators.
After seen the Spring Branch blogs.
I think I will RSS that place too.
But I have really mixed feelings. I wish anybody in my campus could use any of these technologies.
If you want to keep informed, is not other way that have a RSS account.
Surfing on the web can take you 24/7 and still not get the most recent information.
Librarians should keep themselves informed about everything and RSS is the only way to do it.
Had you read The World is Flat?

Thing # 7

I read about Google Notebook a few months ago, and I was curious to use it.
Today I use it and make my notes about Digital TV.
I am planning to buy a new TV and I want to be sure I buy the best option and be sure is ready for the change in February 2009.
I decided to wait a little bite until March this year that TV's will be labeled with SDTV (Standard) EDTV (Enhanced) or HDTV. I don't think I need to go all the way to a high definition.
I am not sure about the way to access my notebook. But here is the link.

http://www.google.com/notebook/#b=BDQTrIgoQwLv0wvki

I entered again today (July 4th 2008) my notes are still there.
A student can start a research in one computer and save their notes in google notebook and retrive their notes another day in any computer.
Interesting idea when you don't have a flash available. Also helps becuase save life links

Thing # 6

We also could have one about each teacher in the school. The students would be able to learn about us.
I would like to make each of my students their own card with the things they like the most.

I also love to travel. I read a lot. I am a workaholic.
To make this card I went to

Thing # 5

I liked Flickr.
I am planning to use it with my family. We had been using other website, but the size of the pictures in Flickr is much better.
Flickr allows you to share pictures and find them too.
Go to
http://flickr.com/

I am adding another picture from the hotel I have as my banner in the blog

Took it from Flick

Thing # 4

I opened this blog a long time ago, but I stoped using it. I am glad to use it back again.
A blog is an excellent way to show your thoughts to others. I hope I will receive comments that allow me to keep a conversation.
Easy way to start a blog.
Go to blogspot.com

Thing # 3

An Avatar is a "picture" of you that you can use insted of a real picture. To get it. Go to Yahoo and find avatar
This is my blog that I started 3 years ago. My original idea was posted the notes of the courses I took. but I only did the first one Building Learning Communities, with Alan November. It was an excellent course and I hope I can save enough money to go back this year.
You can see my Avatar here.

For summer I made new Avatar, here it's.
Each student in your class could make their own and use it instead of their pictures in your website

Thing # 2

I think 7 Habits is a great book. I have used with my students and really help them to focus.

Thing # 1

Thing # 1
A few years ago a librarian told me that she did not do "websites", when I was explaining to her things that she could do with my students. She really made me upset, I think librarians should be ahead in technology. I hope this project will really help not only librarians also teachers.I would like to recommend you to hear a podcast about it:Recently, Brian Mull interviewed Joyce Valenza and discussed the need for educators to retool to remain relevant in education today. Listen to this podcast and share how you plan to start retooling this year. This is the link ypu can use to get there:http://nlcommunities.com/communities/alannovember/archive/category/1982.aspx
